Gladys Smith says that her life as an author is awesome because she gets to share her story and help others. Being an author means a lot to Gladys who is the author of False Promise, a book that brings awareness to all types of generations and the different types of abuses that people are afraid to speak about. The book also lets people know that it’s okay to show emotions. One of the most powerful messages that False Promise displays is letting people know that if you don’t deal with the past hurt, it will spill over into your adult life.

Gladys Smith is such an influential author, community leader, and entrepreneur. It is an honor to have obtained an exclusive interview with her.

Please tell us about the Nonprofit Domestic Violence program you’re involved with called Cynthia Loving Hands. What can you share with us about it?

Gladys: I started the Domestic Violence program so that I can help women that are in abusive relationships. There weren’t any programs to help my mother when she was going through the abuse. This program is to be able to fund and help women to be able to leave the abuse and get counseling. I want to make sure they will feel safe so they will not return to the abuser.

We would also love to learn more about C&C Glamour Girls. How did this organization come about and what services do you provide?

Gladys: The organization came about one day as I was watching my little cousin. She is a very smart and beautiful young lady, but kids at school always were picking on her because she doesn’t act and dress like the other kids. C&C Glamour Girls is an organization that is designed to help young teens who are not able to get the things they need. The organization also gives them a better feeling about themselves. I want them to start at a young age knowing their self-worth because it will be one less thing to worry about in school and everyday life.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. How do you observe this time and what are some of your best self-care practices?

Gladys: I take time for myself and reset my mind. I’m always praying and keeping God first. I make sure I text or call friends and family to make sure they’re okay. I always pay attention to family and friends and never let myself get overwhelmed. I go on vacation, I shop, and I hang out with my family to release the stress.

You’ve been getting great feedback from your book “False Promise”. Why do you think readers love this book so much?

Gladys: The book False Promise brings awareness to all types of generations of course the different types of abuses that people are afraid to speak about and people know it’s okay to show emotions. The book also lets people know that if you don’t deal with past hurt it will spill over into your adult life. Until you seek help you will not be able to love yourself and others.

What else are you working on as of late?

Gladys: Right now, I am trying to franchise a restaurant and I’m relaunching my book False Promise again.

What is the best thing that has happened to you this year?

Gladys: I had been trying to get the deal done since last year and this year on May 9th 2023, they finally called me back with the deal.

What are you most excited about for the summer ahead?

Gladys: To start seeing my dreams come true and the joy of seeing me helping others is the best feeling in the world.
