IPM: As a dynamic duo, what is your secret to success in the real estate market?

Holly: As a team, my husband and I recognize and build on our strengths. Our communication is the foundation to successful transactions. We identify the role each will play with the clients. IPM: What would you recommend for other’s trying to start their own real estate company? Holly: Do your research. As far as being an independent contractor or Realtor®, find someone you respect in the industry, and shadow them for a period of time. I would also recommend more than one person as a leader in the industry, so that you can get a buyer’s and seller’s perspective.

IPM: How do you both keep the spark alive while managing your business and raising your grandchildren?

Holly: Even under duress, my husband and I stay kind to each other. We work hard to preserve one night a week for “date night.”

IPM: Do you have any tips for First Time Home Buyers?

Holly: Define what you can afford. Identify what you want, vs. what you need. Never have more than your top three choices on your list of homes. Once you choose “the one” always have a professional licensed and bonded home inspector perform the inspection report on the property. Then listen to your gut.

IPM: For those who want to have a business relationship with their spouse, how do you effectively maintain work/life boundaries?

Holly: In Real Estate, you can’t leave your work at the office. This is why couples who work together should protect “date night.” One evening a week, no work is discussed. Remember, clients expect Realtors® to be available long hours and any day of the week. This is why it’s hard to leave work at the door when you get home. IPM:

After running for political office, I realized that holding office wasn’t my path to success. I attended events around the world and worked hard to earn leadership accreditations and business certifications to further my entrepreneurial endeavors. IPM: What would you say is the most difficult part of being an internationally recognized speaker? Holly: The speaking circuit takes time and financial sacrifice. I never realized what it took to be seen. No one does it alone. It takes a tribe.

IPM: When did you first realize you wanted to write your own book and become a publisher?

Holly: Since I was a child, I have always wanted to write my own book. A compilation book was the fastest way to publish my first one. It became a #1 International best seller and launched a series of three called “The Rules Books.’ There are 110 Authors total in the series. The experience of publishing my first 4 books, led me to open my own publishing company. I now focus on helping others get their message out to the world.

IPM: Do you have a secret you would like to share about becoming a number one best-selling author?

IPM: What advice would you have for someone wanting to become a writer?

Holly: My tip to writing: Don’t overthink it…Get it done, it will never be perfect.…Hire the help you need.

IPM: Since you own several businesses in Southern Utah, what obstacles have you faced in the pursuit of your businesses and how did you overcome them?

Holly: I have had nine startup companies which brought me many challenges, successes and learning opportunities. I’m an early adapter which has not always been in my favor. I am ahead of my time. My intuition was right, but my timing was off.  When a fork in the road presented itself, I took the best path forward for myself and my business at the time. IPM: How do you balance being a book publisher, number one best selling author, internationally recognized speaker, owning several businesses in Southern Utah, and being a relator? Holly: I teach others to have multiple streams of income. Out of integrity to myself I model that mantra. I’ve learned to put the right team in place, only do what I am best at, and delegate, delegate, delegate. My motto is:” If it’s not fun, I’m not doing it”.

IPM: What motivates you to keep going in all you do?

Holly: Those who know me, know that I stay the path and always do what I say I will do. Knowing that others count on me motivates me to do better every day.

IPM: Do you have an important message that you would like to share with our readers?

Holly: Your life is like a train ride. There will be many stops along the way. Stay on track. Know your destination. Remember you’re the Engineer. Passengers will come and go…let them go! If you find yourself in the caboose, get more fuel to reach your destination.
