Thanks for joining us! Let’s start with getting to know who Dr. Grisel Martos is. And What are you doing these days?
Hello, thanks for having me. I am Dr. Grisel Martos; I have dedicated my life to helping people smile brighter and more confidently. People call me a magician, but for me, I just do one thing: I help people lead a happy and healthy life through better oral health. I have been in cosmetic dentistry for over two decades now. I offer a wide range of services to help my patients achieve the beautiful, healthy smiles they desire. I started My Smile Miami to provide excellent care in a comfortable and relaxing environment.
How long have you been established in your practice? And what kind of culture have you created in your practice?
It has been more than two decades since I started my career as a professional cosmetic dentist. In the past 22 years, my patient base has grown from a few dozens that I tracked on paper charts to thousands. I had to expand my private office to accommodate more patients. My Smile Miami went completely digital a decade ago to handle all the thousands of little details that are associated with providing thorough quality care to each patient. And the staff has expanded as well to be able to continue our exceptional service to patients. My Smile Miami is usually kept pretty busy, but you will find my team is always welcoming to unscheduled patient services or fit in an emergency as soon as there is room. I and my team always try to go the extra step in patient care, comfort, and service.
You are one of the most influential people in cosmetic dentistry. What is unique about My Smile Miami?
That would be my experience and skills. I have a degree from the most prestigious dental school of Nova Southeastern University. I also received a Diploma from the honorable Jeb Bush, Governor of the state of Florida at the time. This gives me the knowledge I need to run my private dental clinic and a better advantage based on my history in the field. Most importantly, I have the experience of consulting with over thousands of patients over the last 22 years.
Why are people coming to you today?
The world is changing, and everyone wants to stay healthy and look beautiful. While My Smile Miami is not the first of its kind, it is unique in how I care for my patients. I give each patient special attention to offer a personalized solution to their problem. What kind of changes have you implemented in your practice since you started working?
It has been great to have an outside perspective. As a dentist, my world revolves around the next perio check and hygiene appointments. Since I started working with my private practice, I have implemented many changes! I have successfully added little things like tracking case acceptance and doing a morning huddle with the team in the right way to spark really big changes in my practice. I have recently started working on patient retention, and am excited to see how this will pay off.
Who have been your strongest influences in life?
First of all, I owe greatly to my parents. They have worked so hard and devoted so much to providing me with opportunities for me to take advantage of.
Dr. Jeffery (a dental mentor of mine) has shown me what world-class dentistry is and what a humble attitude means.
I owe a lot to my VT trainers, who showed me what impeccable dentistry really is.
Sum yourself up in three words?
I had five words for my university leavers book. That was ‘Works hard but plays harder’ – so I’ll keep to that for now.
Anything else you’d like to add?
We all have low days in life in general and dentistry in particular – and feel the stress from patients when things don’t go perfectly. It’s about trying not to let these frustrations get to you and see the bigger picture.
