IPM: How did your military experience affect your life today?

TRACEA: Being in the military was such a great adventure and helped prepare me in being independent and strong.

IPM: What motivated you to join the Navy?

TRACEA: I joined the Navy when I was 18 years old right after Highschool. I was ready to see the world and this was a great avenue to be on my own and have the opportunity to travel.

IPM: Did any experience in getting ready for pageants growing up such as staying fit help prepare you for bootcamp?

TRACEA: I was quite a athletic young lady growing up. I had danced since I was 3 and was a majorette. I also played soccer and ran track as well.

IPM: Does your family enjoy doing pageantry with you?

TRACEA: My family is such a great support to me. Not only do they cheer me on but my husband has actually gotten involved competing and won several national titles as well.

IPM: What’s one special memory you have of your family being involved in pageantry with you?

TRACEA: My husband and I both competed in our first pageant together and both won. He was International Man and I won Ultimate Queen. We then competed again together for Worlds Perfect pageant and we made history as first married couple to both win our titles. He won Worlds Perfect Most Handsome Man and I won Worlds Perfect Woman SuperModel.

IPM: What’s one piece of advice that you would like to give stay at home moms or even working moms?

TRACEA: one of the most important assignments we have is to love our family. As Mother’s, we are the nurturers of our children and I am thankful I have been blessed to be at home to raise them over the years. My advice is if you want to change the world go home and love your family first.

IPM: What made you decide to get back into pageantry after having kids, was it difficult getting back in?

TRACEA: I did pageants before I was married and had my children. I took a break while my children were small and raising them. As they got older and more independent I decided to then compete again. It was incredible to find a way to help me be the best me I could be by preparing for competition.

IPM: What’s your favorite part about being a Certified Miss America Judge?

TRACEA: I really enjoy being able to serve on the selection panel to sit on the other side of the table to help to choose the next reigning queen.

IPM: Do you have any advice for our readers who would like to get into pageantry?

TRACEA: Pageantry is a great way to find your why. It gives a way to express a platform that you are passionate about to others. It helps you take a good look at who you are and what you are doing to be the best version of yourself to make a difference in the world.

Tracea: I had been Diagnosed with RA about 10 years ago. I have had a hip, two knees and wrist replacement already. I also take many medications to help with this auto immune deficiency. Most of all it is my Faith that pulls me through. Greater is He who is in me than he who is in this world.

IPM:  You are such an inspiration to all of us out here, being a veteran, mother, wife, and multiple time pageant winner. Can you share any advice about how you still manage to have time for yourself?
