Harley Okeanos is a confident and determined actress and model who grew up in Sylmar, California. With a deep appreciation for the arts in all forms, Harley brings passion, energy, and authenticity to every project she takes on. Recently, she filmed the upcoming holiday film, Heart Full Of Hope and an episode of Very Frightening Tales. Her active lifestyle and adventurous spirit are balanced by a love for quiet moments and introspection. Inspired by music and visual expression, she views each creative opportunity as a new chapter in an exciting journey.
What inspired you to pursue acting as a career?
When I was a child, I discovered a unique interest in acting. I thought “Wow this is fun and I can do that.” I was inspired by the ability to tell someone else’s story through vivid expression of movement, emotion, confidence, and character. Growing up I got into school plays, church plays etc. I was never shy lol.
How did you prepare for your very first audition?
Oh boy! Was I nervous! I read the script a lot, imagined myself in my character’s shoes, and I was pretty much acting in front of my bathroom mirror!
What acting techniques or methods have you trained in?
I have been very fortunate to receive great mentorship from experienced professionals in the industry on breathing techniques to alleviate my nerves, posture techniques, what to expect on set, and what the directors look for in each audition and performance. I know there is much more, but the methods and techniques that I mentioned are the ones that stick out the most to me at the moment.
What is the best piece of advice you have received so far?
To stay “out of my head.” This makes perfect sense to me because overthinking the delivery of my performance can hinder my ability to connect with my audience. Practice makes perfect, of course.
Who are some of your favorite actresses of recent years?
Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, and Uma Thurman. They are very talented actresses.
What advice would you give to other aspiring actresses just starting out?
My advice is to focus and believe in your talent, and don’t get distracted by the “glitz and glamour” because that will come after of all the hard work and time that you invested.
Are there any directors or actors/actresses you dream to work with in the future?
I would love to one day work with actress Charlize Theron and director Zack Snyder.
Where do you see your acting career in the next five years?
I see my acting career taking off in full force, being part of unforgettable movie projects and a regular in TV series.
Can you tell us about your upcoming film or TV projects?
I am currently working on the TV series Very Frightening Tales. I’m very excited to have been selected to be part of this project! I can’t wait! We will begin filming this July, and I just had a featured role in the holiday movie titled Heart Full of Hope, so stay tuned!
