What initially drew you to technology, and how has that passion evolved over time?


I’ve always been fascinated by how things work. As a kid, I would take apart old radios and computers just to see if I could put them back together. That curiosity naturally led me to computer science. Over time, my interest evolved from hardware to solving larger, systemic challenges. Today, I’m driven by how technology can empower people, enhance access, and improve lives. What started as a personal fascination has become a mission to make digital transformation more responsible, inclusive, and sustainable—where innovation doesn’t outpace ethics.

 

What do you believe is the most misunderstood aspect of cybersecurity today?


Many people still view cybersecurity as just an IT issue. It’s not—it’s a core business risk. The biggest vulnerabilities often stem from human behavior, not just software flaws. Organizations overlook the cultural side of security. If employees fear reporting mistakes, problems escalate. Cybersecurity needs to be everyone’s concern, with leadership championing transparency, continuous learning, and clear policies. Training, communication, and empathy go a long way in building resilient organizations. It’s not just about threat detection; it’s about creating a culture that anticipates risk and responds thoughtfully when it occurs.

 

You’re known for helping companies adopt ethical AI. What does that look like in practice?


Ethical AI starts with asking the right questions before any code is written. Who does this system benefit? Who might it harm? How do we ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability? In practice, I work with teams to embed ethics at every stage—from data sourcing to model design and deployment. We conduct impact assessments and involve diverse stakeholders. Building ethical AI isn’t a checkbox; it’s a mindset. The most successful initiatives I’ve seen come from companies that treat ethics as a shared responsibility, not just the job of legal or compliance teams.

 

How do you approach working with non-technical executives on digital transformation projects?


My role often involves translating complex technical concepts into actionable business strategy. I focus on clarity and context—explaining not just the “how” but the “why.” Executives don’t need to know the details of a machine learning algorithm, but they do need to understand what outcomes it drives and the risks involved. I also prioritize listening. Every organization is different, and the best solutions come from aligning tech with culture and goals. My goal is to build trust and ensure leaders feel confident making informed, forward-looking decisions.

 

What’s one lesson you learned from working with government clients that still influences your work today?


Working with government clients taught me the importance of balancing innovation with accountability. These organizations often operate under intense scrutiny and tight regulations, yet they still need to evolve. One key lesson was the value of stakeholder alignment—ensuring that everyone, from IT to legal to operations, is on the same page before launching any major initiative. It showed me that success isn’t just about technology—it’s about governance, communication, and trust. That principle has carried over into every sector I’ve worked in since.

 

Why is empathy such a core part of your consulting approach?


Empathy allows me to truly understand the unique pressures each organization faces—technologically, culturally, and economically. Technology doesn’t exist in a vacuum. When you take time to understand people’s fears, hopes, and motivations, you design solutions that actually work. Empathy helps uncover hidden challenges and build stronger adoption. It also fosters collaboration across teams that may not always speak the same language. Especially in transformation projects, where change can be unsettling, empathy helps create safe spaces for dialogue and innovation. It’s one of the most powerful tools a strategist can have.

 

In a rapidly evolving landscape, how do you personally stay ahead of the curve?


I’m a lifelong learner. I read voraciously, attend conferences, take online courses, and stay active in professional communities. But more than that, I listen. I talk to engineers, product managers, legal experts, and frontline staff to get a 360-degree view. Trends don’t just emerge from whitepapers—they’re shaped in everyday conversations. I also teach workshops and mentor younger professionals, which keeps me humble and alert to what the next generation values. Staying ahead isn’t about knowing everything—it’s about being curious, adaptable, and willing to question your own assumptions.

 

What’s one technology you think is overhyped right now, and why?


I’d say generative AI, while powerful, is currently overhyped in how easily it can be deployed responsibly. Many companies rush to integrate it without understanding the implications for data privacy, intellectual property, or misinformation. There’s huge potential, but we need guardrails—technical, legal, and ethical. Too often, tools are deployed because they’re “cool,” not because they solve a real problem. We need to shift from hype to thoughtful implementation. That means slower rollouts, stronger testing, and diverse input during development. Innovation matters, but trust matters more.

 

Can you share a project that best reflects your vision of responsible innovation?


One project I’m proud of involved helping a healthcare company integrate AI into patient care workflows without compromising data privacy. We built a model to flag high-risk patients for proactive care while ensuring all data was anonymized and fully compliant with regulations. We also brought in ethicists and patient advocates during design. It was slower and more deliberate than usual, but the result was a system clinicians trusted and patients accepted. To me, that’s what responsible innovation looks like—building systems that are not just smart, but safe, inclusive, and sustainable.

 

What excites you most about the future of tech, and what concerns you the most?


What excites me is the potential to solve big, systemic problems—climate, education, health—with smarter, more inclusive tools. We’re seeing breakthroughs in areas like AI-assisted learning and predictive health that can truly uplift lives. But what concerns me is the widening gap between those who have access and those who don’t. If we don’t address issues of equity, privacy, and digital literacy, technology could deepen divides. The future I want to help build is one where innovation uplifts everyone—not just those who can afford it. That’s the challenge and the opportunity.
