Breaking News: Two famed deaf artists Warren “Wawa” Snipe and Sean Forbes will be signing in American Sign Language at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show on Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It will be the first time ever in history, the NFL has incorporated American Sign-Language (ASL) performers to feature as part of the halftime program, thus opening the doors for deaf performers.
Their performance will be bringing in a new level of accessibility to the viewer on NBCSports.com and its app. They will be performing sign language interpretations of the headliners’ music featuring the legendary hip-hop artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.
The two ASL Hip-hop performers carved out their names as significant figures in the world of ASL performance. Last year February “WaWa” made his mark at the Super Bowl LV, impressing the audience with his animated elegant performance of the National Anthem and America the Beautiful with Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan. Forbes has collaborated and toured with several people such as actress Marlee Matlin with his 2020 album “Little Victories” that topped the Amazon sales the first week of its release.
