Jose-Clark Hilery, CEO of Glam Kings has over 20 years of experience as a celebrity makeup artist and fashion expert. From humble beginnings, Jose started doing makeup on himself in Tampa, FL then taking on an alter ego in the entertainment scene and making a name for himself. He’s best known for his over-the-top theatrical makeup, and creative talent, and guidance during fashion shows and photo shoots. As we mark Global Pay It Forward Day, it is our distinct pleasure to introduce you to an influential person who pays it forward daily by providing his clients with his resources, skills, mentorship, and more to make them feel and look their best.
In what ways have you paid your talents, expertise, resources, and skills forward throughout your personal life and career?
Jose: I have been working with new artists on building their brands and businesses, Donating my time to multiple agencies in need (e.g. Dacca for abused women, etc.), working alongside brands and ambassadors to help brands through my brand, and lastly creating and maintaining strong partnerships with empowering individuals that like me want to help each other grow!
Who has paid it forward to you and how did you express that gratitude?
Jose: My niece Pilar Scratch has paid it forward on many occasions and I’ve always found a way to demonstrate my gratitude towards what she has done either by working with her on a project or providing her with services of course at no cost to her for how amazing she has been to me!
What recent opportunities have you just landed that you are excited to share with us today?
Jose: I am working with a celebrity radio personality on a collaborative opportunity with an artist to work with for makeup and more!
Is there anything outside of your industry that you’re extremely passionate about? If so, what is it?
Jose: Public Relations has caught my attention as it’s something I could really see myself doing!
From your perspective, what do you think the world needs more of?
Jose: Kindness, Peace, and Respect!
What else would you like to share with our readers?
Jose: Always stay true to what you’re passionate about. You will hear NO a million times but there will be a yes as long as you keep your focus strong on what you trying to achieve!
What is the best way to keep up to date and follow all of your amazing endeavors?
Jose: Always keep a critical focus on what you are doing and how the trends may change within that trend. Staying up to date is very important!
