How did your background in clinical social work influence your approach to helping millennials break mental barriers around money and entrepreneurship?
Racquel: As a clinical social worker, one of my primary goals is to assess individuals’ concerns and collaboratively develop solutions to address them. I take a holistic approach, considering both psychological and social factors that contribute to a person’s overall well-being. When working with millennials, I have observed that many struggle with fears, anxieties, and self-doubt regarding their ability to utilize or monetize their skills. Often, the issue is not a lack of skill but a lack of confidence in their ability to create income through a side hustle. This self-doubt prevents them from seizing opportunities that could provide financial stability allowing them to pay down debt, save for a home, start investing or for some starting a family; essentially the opportunity to stop living from paycheck to pay check while also enabling them to work within their purpose. My approach focuses on addressing these mental barriers so they can confidently pursue their entrepreneurial goals.
Many millennials struggle with finding their “purpose.” How do you guide them in identifying monetizable skills?
Racquel: Purpose is defined as the reason something is done or created, yet many millennials struggle with identifying theirs because they tend to think of it in a singular, rigid way. Through my work with professional millennials, I have found that the key to discovering purpose is exploration. Many people fail to find their purpose because they are unwilling to try new things and gain firsthand experience. I encourage them to experiment with different skills and interests, gathering data on what they enjoy and excel at.
To help millennials identify monetizable skills, I first guide them through self-awareness exercises. I then have them list their skills, gifts, and talents, which we analyze to determine potential monetization opportunities. I take them through my signature income system to refine and leverage these skills effectively.
You’ve developed a signature Income System — can you walk us through how it helps millennials sustain both their careers and entrepreneurial pursuits?
Racquel: My signature income system helps professional millennials identify the gifts they can monetize immediately while building a sustainable business using proven corporate-based systems. This system enables them to maximize profits and create a flexible lifestyle. The key to balancing a career and entrepreneurial pursuits lies in priority management. The side hustle serves as a strategic tool to generate additional income, which can be used to achieve personal financial goals, whether that be paying off debt, saving, or investing. My system equips them with the tools and structure needed to integrate both worlds successfully.
What are the biggest mental blocks you see millennials face when trying to achieve financial independence, and how do you help them overcome these hurdles?
Racquel: The most significant mental block millennials face when striving for financial independence is fear — fear of change and fear of failure. Through my programs, I help them overcome these barriers by shifting their mindset to focus on possibilities rather than limitations. I encourage them to embrace change and take proactive steps toward leveraging their knowledge and skill sets to create financial security.
How important is mindset in financial success, and what are some practical ways people can shift from scarcity thinking to abundance?
Racquel: Mindset is critical to financial success. One must be intentional about defining what financial success looks like for them — whether it’s becoming debt-free, saving more, or investing for long-term stability. To shift from scarcity thinking to an abundance mindset, individuals should educate themselves on financial literacy, take intentional actions toward improving their financial situation, and remain open to new opportunities that can increase their earning potential.
What role does confidence play in monetizing skills, and how can someone build the confidence to charge what they’re worth?
Racquel: Confidence is essential in monetizing skills because, without it, individuals struggle to recognize and assert their value. To build confidence, entrepreneurs must consistently put themselves out there by marketing their products and services. With each successful transaction, they gain validation of their worth, reinforcing their belief in their abilities. Confidence grows through experience, persistence, and a commitment to delivering value.
What industries or side hustles do you think have the most potential for growth in today’s economy?
Racquel: Several industries are experiencing rapid growth and present lucrative opportunities for side hustles, including:
Tech-related fields (e.g., artificial intelligence, cybersecurity)
Healthcare and behavioral health
E-commerce (e.g., dropshipping, online boutiques, live selling)
Social media and content creation (e.g., influencer marketing, digital products)
Education and tutoring (e.g., online courses, piano lessons, freelance teaching)
Freelancing (e.g., graphic design, copywriting, virtual assistance)
These industries offer flexible, scalable income streams for individuals looking to supplement or replace traditional employment.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone afraid to step into entrepreneurship due to financial insecurity?
Racquel: I understand the fears and anxieties surrounding financial insecurity when considering entrepreneurship. My advice is to start small by leveraging free tools like social media to market your products or services. Use platforms like YouTube, TikTok and Instagram to showcase your offerings without significant financial investment. Additionally, adopt grassroots marketing strategies by reaching out to friends, family, local businesses, and community networks to build a client base. Entrepreneurship does not have to be an all-or-nothing leap — it can be a gradual process that allows you to maintain financial stability while growing your business.
What legacy do you hope to leave through your work, and how do you want to be remembered in the business coaching and consulting space?
Racquel: I want to be remembered as someone who had the curiosity and audacity to continuously expand my knowledge, refine my skills, and empower others to do the same. My mission is to make a lasting impact by helping individuals recognize their potential and turn their passions into profitable ventures. Whether through my clinical social work, business consulting, books, or programs, I strive to create opportunities for others to succeed while leaving a legacy of growth, innovation, and empowerment.
