The summer season is upon us, and with it means getting a new set of bikinis. It Girl Desiree Schlotz and
her partner in crime Jessica Ghishan are curating a selection of stunning swimwear just in time for the
season. It’s sure to quickly become one of the hottest items you’ll want for the season.
With thousands of other swimwear lines, this magical duo is determined to have their pieces stand out.
The idea came about when they were traveling around the world and experiencing their spiritual
awakenings in their journey. The beautiful, emotionally stimulating conversations they had, along with the
culture and people of each region they’ve explored are depicted in the pieces. Much like artists, the two
drew inspiration from each location and the different feelings each place had. Then they were able to
translate it into the seams of their fabric. According to Desiree, “We felt as if each city had its own eternal
soul and spirit, which is why people have a sense of yearning for a place or city because its energy is
everlasting. We came up with the name ‘Celestial’ because it is used primarily to describe things relating
to the heavens, such as angels, spirits, stars, and planets.” By highlighting the country’s colors, textures,
and patterns, this duo hopes that it can also raise cultural awareness and identity in the pieces that they
are creating.
Desiree and Jessica also took meticulous care in the quality of their swimwear line. The bikinis are made
with fabrics that are OEKO-TEX and GRS certified, which are UV saltwater and suntan oil-resistant. “We
made sure that it was eco-friendly without sacrificing the quality of our product,” Desiree says.
“Community is also an important aspect that we both want to bring into ‘Celestial’,” she says. With the
drop date of the swimwear line still far ahead, Desiree and Jessica began by heavily promoting the core
values of what the brand stood for to attract an audience that felt similarly. By only creating content about
mindfulness, gratitude, and nature, they were able to grow a huge amount of following on TikTok
(@celestialswim). “We haven’t even dropped our bikini line yet! We are very excited to show our audience
our creation,” Desiree says.
Building a strong community does not stop only with the audience, this duo also wants to expand it and
build a community in its production stages too. By working with women-owned non-profit organizations,
both women hope that they can help bring awareness to the social injustices that women face all around
the world. From the collection they are curating, they hope to partner with a non-profit relating to each line
they release. “Working with more charities and non-profit organizations will be one of the goals for
Celestial,” Desiree says. “We want to be able to make a change and incorporating non-profits in our
opinion is the best way we can do it with our platform.” With their products being manufactured in
Indonesia, they are also currently in the process of looking for non-profit organizations to help support the
community there.
There is no doubt that Celestial is going to be a big hit as we go into the summer season. The new
collection is launching in July, so be sure to keep an eye out for Celestial’s stunning collection made by
two equally bright-minded women
