TJ Granson, 34, is an entrepreneur and firefighter who has just put his career on hold to become a full-time father. However, he does not regret the decision as it was one that he made for himself and his family. While in the service, Granson also became a technician level in many different disciplines. He was a Hazmat Tech, Rope Tech, Vehicular Extrication Tech, etc. Apart from being a firefighter at that time, Granson was also an entrepreneur. He started from scratch with no knowledge about concrete floor coatings or painting services and attended multiple classes to learn more about these industries over time while working full-time. TJ Granson’s story is an inspiration to all entrepreneurs and no matter what the industry, if you have a dream or passion for something then you should go after it with everything that you have.

While working at the Fire Department, Granson started his own Epoxy line business called Tj’s Painting and Epoxy. He put in countless hours of work to build a company from scratch which gave him great pride as he was able to provide for himself and his family while also helping others improve their homes. It’s hard to believe that TJ and his crew had been in business for ten years, but Granson said they were on the cutting edge of their industry. To keep up with demand he added more workers and invested wisely into equipment like grinders or vacuums; anything needed at a job site was purchased after careful consideration because quality is everything when you want your customers pleased.

The growth rate for this family-owned contractor must have seemed exponential as it grew from two employees working out of one garage shop back then – who mastered the epoxy process by watching YouTube videos – to a company with three warehouses, one in Gadsden and two in Albertville.

Granson earned his rank at 34 years old after leaving the Fire Department. He said it was hard to see people who weren’t as qualified make more money than him, but he had a family to support and there were many sacrifices that needed making. Granson has moved on from being an entrepreneur in this industry to now owning Granson Contracting Inc. in Kokomo, IN.

While he misses the camaraderie of working with his brotherhood at the Fire Department, Granson has no regrets about leaving to take care of his family. The experience that comes from owning your own business is invaluable and helps you become a better person as well; whether it’s learning how to be more organized or understanding people on another level, there are many lessons learned along the way which can help make anyone grow stronger.

Granson Contracting Inc., like TJ Granson himself, was built up through hard work and determination under fire (almost literally). He said they never gave up during their ten years thriving in the business even though things didn’t always go according to plan because everyone had bills to pay just like any other company owner.

Granson Contracting Inc. offers many services including epoxy floor coatings, concrete polishing, and striping, garage or warehouse floors with paint lines for sport courts like basketball court markings, baseball game marking, etc., parking lot seal coating (seal off the dirt), new construction work (like sidewalks), and also roof repairs or anything needed to make a structure better than before. These are just a few of the services that Granson Contracting Inc. offers and their reputation is well known in Kokomo, IN because they put out great results for clients year after year.

Outside of work, Granson is always looking for ways to give back. He’s volunteered his time and effort in painting the UCT park baseball field free of charge; convinced Sherwin-Williams to donate all the paint they used so no one had any cost associated with this project (about 50 gallons), served as coach YMCA youth league games/leagues, and has been giving $2 per check donation United Way annually plus countless items donated through local nonprofits like Goodwill.  Granson said he always tries to help out however he can and never turns down a cause that needs his support.

From being a paid employee, Granson took on a challenging and demanding role — a full-time dad. He does the roles of a teacher, a chef, and a coach to his five children. Be that as it may, he is rewarded with a sense of joy and fulfillment especially so that his children are excelling in sports and in academics.

TJ Granson is just one example of how entrepreneurism should be done despite the obstacles you might face along the way. His determination, willingness to learn new things such as epoxy floor coatings (he was one of few who mastered this method years ago), and ability to make sacrifices for those around him are all admirable qualities that anyone would want in their business partners or friends; but don’t think TJ won’t get dirty because these traits also make wonderful father figures too!

As an extension of his work as a firefighter, he was also usually the lead host for fire station tours. He would teach children about what it is like to be in a burning building and how our firefighters respond when they get calls that require medical attention or just help out any citizen who may need assistance during emergencies such as fires.

TJ Granson and his family eventually decided to move to Spanish Fort, AL for more opportunities for his children— to be closer to the beach and enjoy the warm weather year-round.

Yes, we may be able to learn many things from looking at someone else who has achieved success, but it takes hard work and determination just like anything else worth achieving; that is what makes Granson Contracting Inc., TJ Granson himself, and “The Fireman” truly an amazing person with wonderful stories to tell.

TJ Granson is an entrepreneur who has the drive to succeed. He starts up his own company and is very devoted to what he does. A lot of his job involves educating residents on safety knowledge (specifically for children). TJ also does many different things for people in the community, including painting a baseball field in UCT Park for free and donating all of Sherwin-Williams’ paint for this project, volunteering his time as a coach at the Kokomo YMCA Youth League Games/Leagues, and giving $2 per check donation to United Way. He also inspires readers to never give up on their goals even when things don’t go as planned.

TJ was motivated by seeing so many people not get ahead because they gave up too soon or didn’t have enough support from family members who could help them succeed; but also, there were plenty of times where entrepreneurs need some extra push just like any athlete/sports team needs an emotional boost before big games—and it seemed like this is exactly what Tj needed to keep going until success finally reached him! The rest is history!
