Today I woke up with the words on my lips of “Keep RISING”. As we go throughout our day and life, we come across people who have capabilities. Some have realized how to use those capabilities to further their life and the lives of others. We also come across people who have capabilities but seem to be stuck in various life circumstances that appear to not afford them the opportunity to rise above. Today I would like to touch on three main points that we all could possibly use to help us keep rising. They will be points related to rising in our confidence, rising in our cash flow, and rising in our compassion.
1. The Confidence Rise.
“Once we use our confidence to understand that we are limitless, that is when the power truly begins to manifest changes in our life and the lives of others.”
Do you know how powerful you are? The power to influence has nothing to do you’re your master’s degree, position in a company or economic status. It has more to do with our ability to positively demonstrate good character and behaviors. Operating in this manner gives other confidence in us and in ourselves. Confidence was instilled in me by very supportive parents as a child. I thought I was somebody because they told me so. However, I was quickly met with bullying in kindergarten which caused me to question that particular trait. During that time in school, I saw how others began to rise by their crafty ability to put others down. There was a group of us, however, who did what we could to lift one other up. Tricia, Julie, and I still keep in touch to this day.
The truth is, our childhood experiences can actually play a big factor in how we view the world, how we communicate with people, how we handle adversity and confrontation, and also how we tap into our creativity. One of the things that I’m most proud of throughout my life but especially over these last 10 years, is being able to help others explore the creativity within. We all are creative and we all can turn that creativity into cash flow under the right mentorship circumstances. Some creativity turns into intellectual property for corporations. Other creativity turns into patents, trademarks, and copyrights. On the other hand, some creativity turns into choreography and maybe even a new recipe. All these things can be viewed as nice to have or can actually be viewed as something that can yield a great monetary return.
I have been in industry for over 40 years, and in business for over 50 years. I started out creating various businesses as a child with my brother. We would mow people’s lawns, shovel snow, I had a newspaper route, as well as being awarded an allowance for doing chores around the house. My parents were very caring, very intelligent, and had hearts of gold. They were considered people of influence within our community, our church, as well as in our schools. I will come back to this point later on in the article. Once we use our confidence to understand that we are limitless, that is when the power truly begins to manifest changes in our life and the lives of others.
We were all created to have a specific impact in the world. The trick is discovering it, embracing it, nurturing it and understanding that the possibilities in life are limitless. Re-image and live a life aligned with abundance fueled by innovation and creativity. Being bullied caused me to dig deep to understand that their limits were not mine. Do not mistake influence solely with likes and thumbs up on social media, it is much more than that. For me, it has to do with the hearts we have touched and the lives we have changed.
2. The CashFLOW Rise
“For me, confidence helps others see why they should partner with you, believe in you, listen to you, trust you, invest with you, pay you.”
Did you know that statistics have shown that confident people are more likely to succeed? There are also studies that show the opposite. For me, confidence helps others see why they should partner with you, believe in you, listen to you, trust you, invest with you, pay you. Confidence also helps you believe that you can be more creative, and you then try things that you may not have previously. My brother and I created a number of businesses as a child, as a youth and on into young adult years. One of the first businesses I created a young adult was a resume and cover letter business to serve my fellow students. I had worked at General Motors throughout high school as a business major. I switched my major in college and then changed to engineering. Choosing engineering was a perfect fit for General Motors, so I continued to work there for a portion of my college years. During that time in college I also worked at Ford Motor Company. Both of these engagements were in engineering.
I found it a great honor to be able to help my fellow college students to also obtain internships by helping them make a killer resume and pointed cover letter.
One of the things that I was taught at an early age, was if you see a need, figure out a way to fill it. Sometimes in life we present problems without solutions. I was taught to always have at least one, too, or three solutions in any discussion about a problem. This also served me well during my internships because I became the go-to person for problem-solving with a lot of the engineering work we were doing working with the various automotive part suppliers, warehousing groups, and it pick pack and ship operations.
After college, I began working as a manager, director, and Global director in the healthcare industry. I did a lot in biotech here in the United States in various countries across the world. Because my parents always had a kind heart, that rubbed off on my brother and I. For me after getting married in the 1990s my husband and I decided to start a non-profit and begin working in our communities as well as doing for missions. One advantage I had that allowed me to get other people involved from a donation perspective was all of the healthcare and medical advice companies that I had worked with or done audits for seem to be interested in giving back in some way as well. Whenever I would bring up what I was going to do for the summer, the CEO of the company or other members of the company would be intrigued and want to know what they could do to help. Sometimes I would have a missionary plan in place of what we would want to focus to be for those particular trips. Other times we only have the trip location planned and had not started the itinerary yet. Here is where creativity to cash flow comes into play for the non-profit. Depending on what the company made as products or services, I would always be able to find a way to take advantage of their offer. Our missions team would be able to incorporate what they offered and build it into an agenda that would make sense for those that we were going to serve.
One goal that I have is every day find some way to do something creative and innovative. Sometimes it may just be a new outfit or color combination that I might want to wear. Other days it will be working on a strategic plan for a doctor who is developing a new way to recognize and diagnose skin cancer. Other days it may be coming up with a new regulatory plan of action to help a company take a product through an FDA submission. On a different day I could be working with a client on their marketing and video content to launch their new exposure plan. I’m very happy to say that I am still working and serving in the biotech field as well as providing opportunities for people to do and give related to foreign missions as well.
“Never make your accomplishments sound small to attempt to fit in with what others are doing. Be a disruptor.”
Harnessing our creative mindset and turning it into action will open up so many doors to us for monetization. That monetization is what I call “Creativity 2 CashFLOW”. With cashflow infused into our wealth formula, we can sustain our lives and give back, creating greater impact. This is great right? As women, we are innovative every day, in the kitchen and the closet. Some call it improvising but I call it innovation. We all have great ideas that should be trademarked or patented. Never make your accomplishments sound small to attempt to fit in with what others are doing. Be a disruptor. Record your ideas and speak to a person with sound wisdom to help you move it from Creativity 2 CashFLOW. I help people through this maze, daily.
“There is only one focus in what I do. That focus is on option exploration and optimization leading to monetization.”
What you have read about has to do with how I view innovation. For me, innovation is creating new methods, new products, new thought processes, new viewpoints, and even new technologies in order to remain state of the art. My days are filled with working in biotech and my evenings and weekends blossom into a playground of innovation. One of the things that I called often is that creativity creates creativity. Once this is understood it is easier to see how the skills and techniques I use in one area of life, easily translate to another. There is only one focus in what I do. That focus is on option exploration and optimization leading to monetization. I truly believe that there are no limits that anyone can put on us that are greater than the ones that we put on ourselves. I also believe that there is great power and strength that come from being told no. I mentioned at the beginning of this article that one of my mottos is, keep rising. What better way to rise than to be told no, no you cannot, you’re too small, you’re a woman, you’re black, you’re not good enough, no one will ever accept your proposal, and more. Based on this, I want to get into three points on how you can keep rising and increasing your influence by putting these methods into place. These are things that should be done on a daily basis throughout each day in order to get the best results.
3. The Compassion Rise.
“A kind look, a warm hug, a handshake, a conversation, all goes towards putting a smile on the face of someone who sometimes feels forgotten.”
Influence without compassion is empty. It is my heart’s desire that we infuse compassion and kindness in everything that we do. Oh, how good and pleasant it is for all of us to dwell together in unity. Kindness is sometimes hard to find in a world where there are so many people seeking material gain. On the other hand, kindness is also something that can be seen in all areas of our life, if we look close enough.
My husband and I recently read a statistic that mentioned that there were over 330 homeless people who have died in Arizona this year. We love providing opportunities for people within our community to serve the homeless throughout each year. We used to do it monthly before covid hit, and now we go out when we can. Meeting the needs of the homeless where they are is our goal. Sometimes we discuss their needs, or we get into conversations about their birthdays, favorite pets, prayer requests and more. When we have bus passes we give them out, we also have various groups and corporations give us clothing, full meals and snack bags. All items are appreciated as well as the monetary donations that come in through FullColorMovement.com. All of it goes to support the homeless initiatives, at-risk youth programs and foreign missions. A kind look, a warm hug, a handshake, a conversation, all goes towards putting a smile on the face of someone who sometimes feels forgotten. We do our best to give a hand up not just a hand out. We are grateful for all of the volunteers who have come through our organization to pack snack bags, stuff back packs, walk the streets with us to share our donations, and go through the parks, behind buildings and under bridges to meet the homeless where they are. We do not judge; we all have things we are dealing with. Some of our volunteers have stated that it was their first time ever coming in contact with a homeless person. They leave saying how fulfilled they felt just know that they did something first hand that they could see that it made such a great impact in someone’s life.
We are not one-dimensional human beings. Tapping into our creative zone, opens up many possibilities in life. I use various scientific and behavioral tools to get people there on a daily basis, in industry and a limited number of one-on-one engagements. It is my prayer and my dream that every business large and small would either have a nonprofit as a division of their organization or would adopt one. If this were to occur, what a better world this would be. This would allow us to unify and live out one of my mottos of: No Legacy Left Behind.”
In all that we do in life, let us always remember to:
Keep RISING in confidence.
Keep RISING in cash flow.
Keep RISING in compassion.
