During the month of April, we celebrate International Black Women’s History Month. One of the ways that Remi Jones, Host of Remi TV has made history is by launching her self-titled television show, Remi TV. The show became vastly popular and acquired syndication, debuting on TV-9 and the PEG network. Expanding in her notoriety Remi interviewed a plethora of celebrities ranging from Dame Dash, Joey Fatone, Wyclef Jean, Lil Mo, Remy Ma, DJ Kay Slay, Stacy Dash, Malik Yoba, and more. The renowned talk show led her to solidify features in national outlets such as Forbes, Yahoo, Bossip, Sheen Magazine, Thrive Global, HipHop Weekly, and on Hot 97.
In the future, Remi would like to make history as a woman in the media and entertainment industry by owning her own television network and cable channel. She also would like to have independent filmmakers have their movies played there. One thing that Remi loves to do is highlight others who are on their grind which she is admired and respected for throughout the multimedia community.
As we approach Global Pay It Forward Day, it is our pleasure to introduce you to Remi who is also the owner of a non-profit organization. We’re so proud of all she’s accomplished in the media world as well as giving back to so many others in such selfless ways.
April 28th is Global Pay It Forward Day! What does paying it forward mean to you?
Remi: “Paying it forward” to me is performing good deeds for others without expecting anything in return. This act of kindness can take many forms, from buying a cup of coffee for a stranger to volunteering at a local charity. The beauty of paying it forward lies in the fact that the recipient of the kind gesture is often inspired to do something nice for someone else, creating a ripple effect of generosity and compassion.
By practicing the act of paying it forward, individuals can make a positive impact on the world around them. It allows people to step outside of their own needs and desires and focus on the needs of others. This, in turn, fosters a sense of community and promotes a culture of kindness. Overall, paying it forward is a simple but powerful concept that can have a profound impact on both the giver and the receiver. It’s a small but meaningful way to make the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time.
In what ways have you paid your talents, expertise, resources, and skills forward throughout your personal life and career?
Remi: Over time, I have paid my talents forward by conducting workshops through my non-profit organization. Through these workshops, I have been able to help numerous individuals understand the intricate workings of media, a topic that I am deeply passionate about. In the past, I have even gone so far as to offer free advice via Facebook Live and Instagram Live, as I believe that everyone should have access to the tools and knowledge necessary for success in pitching and securing their first television interviews. I find great satisfaction in sharing my experiences and insights with others, and it is my hope that by doing so, I can inspire and empower others to achieve their own goals in the world of media.
Who has paid it forward to you and how did you express that gratitude?
Remi: I feel incredibly grateful to have received the kindness and support of Greg Perry, the owner of The Perry Group based in Rhode Island. His belief in me, my vision for community service, and my television show has been a driving force for me to continue pursuing my goals. Greg’s unwavering kindness and thoughtfulness are traits that make him stand out as one of the most exceptional individuals I have ever met.
Although I am still planning and putting together a way to express my gratitude to him, I know that it will be a heartfelt gesture that will hopefully convey the depth of my appreciation. Despite my current inability to repay his kindness, I hope that in the future, I will have the opportunity to be of some assistance to him. I want him to know that he can count on me for anything, as I owe him a great deal for the positivity he has brought into my life.
Is there anything outside of your industry that you’re extremely passionate about? If so, what is it?
Remi: I am currently putting together a community award show. This event will recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of nonprofit leaders, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and more! Ticket sales and contributions will go towards the Remi TV Narcan project. Our non profit organization aims to provide Narcan boxes to targeted communities in Rhode Island that have been most profoundly impacted by opioid overdose deaths.
The Remi TV Award Show serves as a platform to highlight positive role models who are making significant contributions in their respective fields, but often do not receive the support or encouragement they deserve. We believe in building a community that celebrates accomplishments and spreads awareness, and through this award show.
From your perspective, what do you think the world needs more of?
Remi: The world needs more empathy, kindness. and positive people.
What else would you like to share with our readers?
