From my experience, companies face multiple risks daily ranging from: Contractual disputes, regulatory compliance challenges, intellectual property infringements, and employment issues, which are common pitfalls. Additionally, data privacy breaches and evolving cybersecurity threats pose significant concerns. I assist clients in navigating these risks by implementing robust contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, safeguarding intellectual property, and establishing comprehensive strategies for data protection. Proactive legal counsel not only addresses current challenges but also fortifies businesses against unforeseen legal complexities in their operational journey.

 

How do you handle dispute resolution and litigation matters related to commercial transactions? Can you share an example of a case where you successfully resolved a dispute in favor of your client?

I always seek arbitration first by bringing the conflicting parties together. If this does not work, that is when I consider going to court to seek an interpretation. I have done this many times, and in most cases, the parties involved usually solve their commercial issues faster, and cheaper than going through the tedious and often costly legal process. For instance, there was a time a company I represented was in conflict with one of their ex-employees over IP. The company wanted to sue but after analyzing the issue, I brought the company and the ex-employee to the table. I hammered out a deal where the ex-employee surrendered the IP in exchange for a stake in the company. It was a win-win for both sides and they went on to make great strides from what was otherwise a source of conflict.

 

What steps do you take to ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and legal requirements, especially in highly regulated sectors?

I always stay in compliance with industry regulations by always keeping in touch with the latest trends in the industry. This is easy to do because there are lots of publications that touch on the latest issues in commercial law. Besides, reading law publications, I always make a point of attending different industry events. Through these events, I get to interact with industry peers and learn on the latest, and even upcoming laws and regulations for the industry. So far, it has worked well for me, and I have never found myself in a situation where I am in contravention of the law in the course of my duties.

 

How do you advise clients on mergers, acquisitions, and other major transactions?

I always ensure that the deal is in the best possible interests of my client. For instance, if a company I am representing is being acquired, I always make sure to use the law in a way that my client gets the best not just for the directors who benefit directly from the sale, but also for the employees, who without a good deal could end up losing their jobs abruptly.
