Are you ready to reach millions with your message? Here are the five steps I took to develop a multimillion-viewer audience after struggling for years to make it work.

We’ve been talking a lot about messaging and story. But maybe you already have your story. In fact, you’ve been trying everything you can think of to get that story out there, to make the world take notice, but nothing has worked.

I get it. I was there, too, once.

How I Reached Millions with My Message

When I first set out to share my story with the world, I struggled to put the pieces together. So, I hired coaches, took online courses, went to seminars — and the only things I realized was how overwhelmed I was by all of this information that I just wasn’t ready for.

It wasn’t until I figured out the power of non-traditional media platforms, and learned some new monetization strategies, that I finally broke through.

Since then, I’ve built multiple businesses, become an international speaker, and launched a global media company, as well as my own TV show that’s been recognized by both President Obama and President Trump.

And this is how I did it:

(M) Message

It all started with a passion, experience or life-changing idea. But now you have to figure out how to get the world to notice. You need to turn that inspiration into a values-driven, universally understood message.

That’s why the first step to reaching millions is to nail down your most powerful story. Tell the world why it’s so important that they know about you, your business and the spark that started this whole journey for you. Write it down. Share it with your team. Put it on your website. It’s your foundation.

(E) Engagement

When you hear people talk about online engagement, you might think of analytics reports, clicks, shares, likes and followers. But that’s actually the result of good engagement. To create that result, your focus should be on one thing: consistent, high-quality content.

That means a couple things. First, you will need to produce consistent content that is interesting, relevant and useful to the people you want to attract. Second, you’ll need to go past a regular blog and social media calendar; you need a show. That’s how you access millions. Consider a TV show, podcast or vlog. Why? Read on.

(D) Distribution

It used to be said that content is king, but today, content distribution is what makes the difference between breaking through the noise or remaining as part of the static.

So how do you start distributing like a pro? First you need a documented distribution strategy:

What kind of content will you produce?

Which platforms will you use to distribute it?

How much, and how often?

The trick to reaching millions, however, is how you choose your distribution platforms. I found my breakthrough with OTT (over-the-top) media.

OTT providers bypass the traditional telecom, broadcast network and cable platforms, instead streaming media directly through the internet. Stars of OTT distribution include Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku and more.

I always include OTT distribution methods in my strategies because it allows you to control the distribution of your content — and access massive audiences at the same time.

(I) Influence

Now that you’ve got regular content flowing through the best distribution platforms, you’re on your way to becoming a massive digital influencer. With that kind of influence, you’re establishing yourself as an authority in your niche, the obvious choice in your market.

Are you ready for the fun part? This is when you develop irresistible offers for an audience that you know well — an audience of your already raving fans. Hello, millions of followers.

(A) Analytics

Lastly, if you properly analyze your data and, more importantly, respond efficiently to what it tells you, then you can make this kind of influence last. In fact, you can make it grow exponentially — past your competition and past your wildest dreams. But it requires consistent focus on the numbers.

First, you want to identify which pieces of data are important to watch, according to your specific goals. Then, you want to pay attention to what’s working, what’s not working and what’s unexpected. Harvest that data to figure out where to grow and where to prune back. Then watch your ROI increase and your client retention rise.
