What keeps Licensed Professional Counselor and Founder of Sister’s 2nd Chance, Dr. Sasha Johnson motivated to continue this career in the mental health field is the motivation that she’s gained from being a mother to her two boys. Dr. Sasha Johnson says that if she did not have her sons, she might not have had the willpower to achieve to reach the heights that she currently has. Dr. Sasha wanted to be an example for them. Her professional track record proves she is indeed an influential example for sure.

Hi Dr. Sasha, Please tell us about your book It’s A Losing Battle But I Won. When was your book released and how long did it take for you to write it?

Dr. Sasha: My book was released June 2020 and the second edition just recently. It took me about 6 months to write it.

What is the vital message that is taken away from the book?

Dr. Sasha: What I would want someone to take away from my book is that you too can win! Despite all of the obstacles that come your way through the pain there is light shining bright at the end of that tunnel.

You’re such an influential woman who is part of a renowned sorority such as Gamma Phi Delta. How has being a Soror made an impact on your professional and personal life?

Dr. Sasha: Because this is still new and I’m still riding the high! I’ve gained newfound sisterhood and many influential connections…I look forward to big things in the future.

In what ways do you want to make an impact and influence others if you win the School Board At Large position you’re currently running for?

Dr. Sasha: I’m looking to bring back the village! It’s needed from the top to bottom. I want to impart life skills to the children to remind them that the sky’s the limit. However, we don’t want to exclude the parents as they need a hand up to be able to assist their children to the best of their ability and gain the wherewithal to sustain. The goal is to help the family unit as a whole mind, body, and soul. Lastly, the Administrators shouldn’t excluded be either…they need to know they have our community support as well.

May is mental health awareness month, can we expect any workshops, events, or projects this month from you that focus on this topic?

Dr. Sasha: This year the only events that we have scheduled are the radio show “Off the Script” which airs biweekly. However, we do have a Father’s Day Brunch on June 17, 2023 (Powder Springs Library) as well as a Health and Wellness Fun Day event on July 14, 2023 (Taylor Farms). All are welcome!

What can we be on the lookout for during 2023 from Sister’s 2nd Chance?

Dr. Sasha: Sisters Second Chance is on the move focusing on bridging the gap amongst the Homeless community and Mentorship in this season.
