Thanks for joining us! Let’s start with getting to know who Dion Welton is? And what are you doing these days?

Thanks for having me. I am Dion Welton and I have served as a marketing researcher and consultant for 15 years. I graduated from St. Thomas University with a degree in business communication. Alongside this, I am a public speaker and an author. I founded the fastest-growing faith-based encouragement publication Hope is Now, which is a highly circulated magazine nationwide! I host a radio show.

I love playing basketball and sharing my positivity with my audience as a motivational speaker. My radio program FREE ON THE INSIDE has earned me national acclaim and I am humbled by that. I draw inspiration from those who face adversity, learn from their mistakes, and triumph over despair in life, ultimately striving for joy through the creation of a meaningful existence.

Currently, I am all set to launch my new book ‘Recovery’ this year. Also, I am working on launching the digital release of my faith-based encouragement publication ‘Hope Is Now’.

What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?

The idea to become an entrepreneur and start this business came to me during a very tough time in my life. Self-centered living and poor decisions had landed me in a very dark place. As I went through that challenging patch in life only one word kept coming to me and that was HOPE. I would sit and pray, think, and meditate on where I was in my life at that time.

I had reached a point where I started doubting if there was any HOPE for me or not. I was a college graduate, and professional baseball player, born and brought up in a respectable family, but I ended up in darkness all because of my wrong judgments. But those dark days taught me a lesson for life, the lessons that stuck with me for the rest of my life to this day.

Then I decided to help people struggling with finding the first ray of hope to bring them back to life. I was always an eloquent speaker and writer so I decided to use my abilities to spread the message of hope to everyone around. This is how I became an entrepreneur.

What would you say are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur, and why?

  1. Commitment

For me, commitment to purpose is the fuel that drives an entrepreneur. My aims make me climb the ladder of success as an entrepreneur.

  1. Communication skills

Strong communication skills are key to entrepreneurial success. Every entrepreneur needs to establish influential communication with the stakeholders with perfection to become successful.

  1. Ability to sell

An entrepreneur should know how to sell his ideas, his product or service, and himself.

You sound quite passionate about your work; why? Is there a story behind it?

As I shared earlier, I have gone through some really dark times in my life. I was a self-centered lad having poor judgment which cost me some golden years of my life. I landed myself in a very dark place where only one word kept coming to me and that was HOPE.

There were times when I felt like losing the last string of hope but then I used to sit down and pray. When I came out of those testing times I knew what I had to do with my life from then onwards. That is why I’m very passionate about my work because it’s not just a regular business for me but my purpose in life.

How do you separate ‘Hope is Now‘ from your competitors?

Hope is Now‘ publishes one of the fastest-growing faith-based encouragement magazines in North America. My commitment to this purpose is the only thing that separates my company and publication from my competitors. We are now in Walmart, Walmart Canada, Barnes and Noble, Books, A Million, and Chapters Indigo in Canada as well as several others.

We are now also in over 4,000 waiting rooms across the country. ‘Hope is Now‘ was created to reach every reader, every person, no matter background, faith, believer, non-believer, etc. You can be from any faith or no faith still you can derive purpose from this publication. The content is designed to lift, and share stories of overcoming struggle – It is designed to spread the message of HOPE. People love it because it comes from the purest intentions.

What was the biggest problem you encountered launching your magazine and how did you overcome it?

When I started ‘Hope is Now‘, I wasn’t well-versed in handling the logistics involved in running a business. I faced a lot of tiny problems on a daily basis until I learned from my mistakes, my observations, and my experiences and overcame all of those issues with time.

How do you stay driven and motivated to keep going in your business?

My discipline keeps me motivated to carry on with my tough day-to-day routine. I have spent a life having no discipline and I have seen the consequences so now my routine is my religion and I dare not to stray from that.

What’s the best part of your job?

Listening to and sharing the inspiring stories of people around me is the best part of my job. I see myself in everyone getting out of the darkness holding the hands of hope and positivity.

What is your definition of success?

Staying hopeful in all kinds of circumstances and keeping a positive and progressive mindset is the ultimate success. Once you have that thing in your darkest of times, you have everything to get out of the darkness. Hope is a beacon of light that makes you succeed so for me having hope is being successful.

Thank you so much for this truly amazing interview!
