What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?

After gaining decades of industry experience, in 2012 I felt I needed to do things my way and it was only possible if I had my own consultancy setup. I started John Canty Finance Consulting Firm to help corporate businesses thrive using my expertise. I searched for professional, well-trained, and dedicated business and finance specialists to join my consultancy firm so that we can offer a wide variety of services under one roof to help our client organizations achieve their financial goals.

What would you say are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur, and why?

Becoming a successful entrepreneur requires having so many outstanding skills and a perfect combo of passion and hard work. According to my experience and observation of creating a successful trajectory as an entrepreneur, the top three skills one has to develop and maintain are:

First of all, one must have a growth mindset. If you believe in yourself and you are determined to give everything to achieve success, you are bound to succeed. Secondly, you should have the wisdom and ability to connect with your ideal audience at the right time. There is hardly a second chance to succeed. Last but not least, to become a successful entrepreneur, you must have a solution-based or service-based expertise that the market needs. It requires in-depth market analysis and a thorough insight into the current trends.

You sound quite passionate about your work; why? Is there a story behind it?

There is no one story behind my passion but a series of events that led me to take up this profession and become an entrepreneur. I have seen my father always struggling to manage the financial matters of his business, especially tax-related issues. He was cheated by unprofessional and unethical financial consultants that cost him a lot of his fortune. I always had a great inclination towards mathematics, and when I started helping my father with his accounts and financial statements, I realized this is what I will love to do for the rest of my life.

How do you separate John Canty Finance Consulting Firm from your competitors?

We offer the most amazing customer service at John Canty Finance Consulting Firm. Customer service is no rocket science, but so many businesses do it wrong. Customer experience is everything regardless of the industry. I go to extreme lengths to make sure my clients have a unique, and memorable experience that goes beyond just delivering the service we offer. I don’t give my clients just bookish financial or, business advice but I make them realize that I have the same concern for their business growth and success as they have. Unparalleled customer service separates John Canty Finance Consulting Firm from its competitors by building a culture around being customer-centric and thinking of every little nuance of a customer experience.

What was the biggest problem you encountered launching your consulting firm, and how did you overcome it?

My experience of starting my financial and business consulting firm has been enjoyable and satisfying from day one. I was lucky to get like-minded people who helped me build a business and handle things perfectly from the very start. The most challenging task was to hire the right team. It was one thing that was of significant concern to me, and a former colleague of mine assisted me with that. Since then, I haven’t encountered any serious issues.

How do you stay driven and motivated to keep going in your business?

I believe if I am feeling good, only then I can give my 100% to my work. So to keep myself motivated in my job, I take good care of myself. I give myself enough time to relax on a daily basis. My success and survival as an entrepreneur owe a lot to my healthy lifestyle. I take short breaks during the day to keep my energy level and concentration high throughout the workday. I also go to bed early so that I can start my next day fully recharged. My routine ensures I keep doing what I love to do without burning out.

What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is seeing my clients happy and satisfied. Financial matters are troublesome and one of the most important aspects of any business. Every enterprise sets its financial goals and helping them achieve those goals is the most satisfying part of my career. I enjoy every bit of my work; it is never dull.

What is your definition of success?

Unlike many others, for me, success is not about reaching a destination. For me, success is found within the journey – the process you take every day to achieve your ultimate goal. Every entrepreneur’s life is full of ups and downs; my life isn’t any exception. All I have learned during my professional life is to celebrate every small victory along your path to building something more significant for yourself, and that’s the real success for me.

Thank you so much for this truly amazing interview!
